《The Yangtze Valley and Beyond》（跨越长江流域）是英国旅行家伊莎贝拉‧伯德(Isabella Bird)在中国的游记之一，这是她在长江流域及川藏地区进行的实地考察。全书共三十九章，记叙沿途的风光古迹，民风民俗，其中包含插图照片一百多幅，此英文本出版于1899年。

此书全名：The Yangtze Valley and beyond : an account of journeys in China, chiefly in the province of Sze Chuan and among the Man-tze of the Somo territory

伊莎贝拉在长江及川藏地区的游历路线，可分为七个阶段。第一段，乘当地人的木船从上海到杭州，经绍兴、宁波又返回上海(1～3章)。第二段，乘外国的轮船从上海经镇江、芜湖、九江至汉口，再由汉口经沙市到宜昌(4 ～9章)。第三段，乘帆船从宜昌起行，穿过壮丽的长江三峡，经奉节(夔府) 、云阳到达万县(10～16章)。第四段，从万县走陆路经梁平(梁山县)、渠县、营山、南部到达阆中(保宁府)，再经苍溪、剑阁、梓潼、绵阳、彭县、灌县到达成都(18～28章)。第五段，由灌县经汶川(威州、理番厅)、理县(杂谷脑)、米亚罗到达马尔康的梭磨，再从梭磨返回成都(29～34章)。第六段，由成都乘“乌榜船”(一种无帆而有竹篷的小船，形似乌鱼，四川人称为 “乌棒”)沿岷江顺流而下，经眉山、乐山(嘉定府)、宜宾(叙府)、泸州到达重庆(35～37章)。第七段是回程，在重庆买舟东下返回上海。

作者全称伊莎贝拉·露西·伯德·毕晓普（Isabella Lucy Bird Bishop）：1831年10月15日-1904年10月7日，是一位神奇的英国女性，也是世界百大探险家之一。她原名伊莎贝拉.伯德（Isabella Lucy Bird），50岁时嫁给毕晓普（Dr. John Bishop, -1886）后，改称毕晓普夫人。她出版过旅游摄影集《跨越长江流域》（The Yangtze Valley and Beyond, 1899），《韩国和她的邻里》（Korea and Her Neighbourhood, 1898）等书十余册。 毕晓普夫人晚年在受访时，曾就前述二书中有关中国的图片，所做的一番解说，而被集结为《中国图像记》（Chinese Pictures）一书。1900年出版，副题为Notes on Photographs Made in China。作者希望透过一些真实的小人物，和他们周围的环境和习惯，能让增加对中国人（大清国）的了解。

伊莎贝拉·伯德（Isabella Lucy Bishop）1831年生于英国，自幼体弱多病，希望通过旅行战胜病魔。23岁时伊莎贝拉开始旅行，曾翻越落基山、穿越北美洲。她非常向往亚洲，在随后的25年，她的足迹遍布波斯、朝鲜半岛、中国和日本等地。1901年她70岁时，骑马越过摩洛哥，穿越阿特拉斯山脉，行程达1600公里。伊莎贝拉于1904年去世，享年73岁。1892年伊莎贝拉成为英国皇家地理学会第一位女会员，1897年成为皇家摄影协会会员。她一生在病痛、考察、写作、摄影、演讲当中度过，著作达14部，其旅行足迹可绕地球三圈，是一位非凡女性。

伊莎贝拉·伯德与法国人大卫·妮尔是两位最早进入四川西部的西方女性探险家，而伊莎贝拉比大卫·妮尔入川早了20年，她的考察记细腻、准确、真实，笔触具有鲜明的文学色彩，对西方人最早正确认识中国、认识神秘的四川起到了巨大的作用。（文字介绍参考：用伊莎贝拉的眼光穿透故乡）
